The B.S. in the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics degree programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.Mechanical Engineering programs provide a focus on the fundamentals of engineering. Laboratory work and design projects synthesize this knowledge in an engineering context.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers graduate programs at the master’s levels. Students can pursue programs that lead to a Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) degree (with or without a thesis).
The PhD normally requires about four years of full-time study beyond the baccalaureate degree. There is no formal course requirement for a doctoral degree; the student develops a technical program involving both research and course work with the help of his or her adviser.
