The master’s program in Robotics is a unique program administered by Penn’s General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) Laboratory, recognized as one of the nation’s premier research centers. Multi-disciplinary in scope, the program provides an ideal foundation for what today’s experts in robotics and intelligent systems need to know — from artificial intelligence, computer vision, control systems, dynamics, and machine learning to design, programming and prototyping of robotic systems.

Requirements

Research & Technical Papers

Students may pursue research and write an M.S.E thesis on a suitable topic under the supervision of a General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) faculty member (usually but not necessarily their academic advisor). The findings of the thesis should be made as a verbal presentation to the members of GRASP Lab.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) required by all programs.
International Applicants must meet the TOEFL or IELTS requirement.

Application Requirements:

1. Biographical information (which is submitted through the online application). a personal statement.

2. Two official letters of recommendation: one must be from a faculty member who is familiar with the candidate’s scholarly abilities (the only exception is the doctoral program in CIS for which applicants must submit three [3] letters of recommendation).

3. One official transcript from each university or college attended.

4. non-refundable application fee of $80. This payment must be submitted with the online application.

5. Official score report for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) – required by all programs. In addition to the GRE, all International Applicants must meet the TOEFL or IELTS requirement indicated below. The institution code to use for the GRE exam is 2888.

All applications for Penn Engineering graduate programs are submitted online.
