Course Structure
Darden’s First Year required curriculum provides students with a solid foundation in global business leadership. The integrated curriculum — wherein the same or similar cases are used in several different courses and more than one discipline — illustrates how all areas work together and influence one another. The electives and concentrations in the Second Year of the MBA program allow students to explore new possibilities and develop more depth in chosen areas of expertise.
International Exchange & Double Degrees
Darden’s Exchange Program is designed for students interested in an extended residential experience outside the United States. Because exchange schools have different academic calendars and programs, exchanges are possible only during time periods that are specific for each school.Following are the colleges for school exchange program:

Internships
- Darden Business Incubator (DBI): The DBI provides a community of student and faculty support, as well as $13,000 in funding for a select group of students to start business ventures during the summer.
- Batten Venture Internship Program: This program provides Darden students the opportunity to pursue summer internships with venture capital firms or start-ups around the country. To promote and support student involvement with these firms, the Batten Endowment provides a matching stipend to supplement a student’s summer salary.
- Darden Nonprofit Internship Fund (DNIF): Students interested in doing an internship for a nonprofit organization can apply for a stipend through the DNIF to help defray summer living expenses.

The Batten Institute is a research center dedicated to advancing knowledge about the transformative power of entrepreneurship and innovation through scholarship that has clear, practical implications for managers and for society.
The Behavioral Research at Darden Lab
The Behavioral Research at Darden (BRAD) Lab is an interdisciplinary laboratory supporting behavioral research at Darden. Researchers affiliated with BRAD study organizational behavior, marketing, business ethics, judgment and decision-making, behavioral operations, and entrepreneurship.
Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics
Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics, housed at the Darden School, is an association of chief executive officers. Its mission is to enhance ethical behavior of business leaders in the conduct of day-to-day business decision making.

- Applicants are required to take either the GMAT or GRE.College evaluates only GMAT results from tests taken prior to submission of the application. The highest score is used, but they do not combine scores from multiple tests. Scores are valid for five years.
- As much as 50% of a student’s grade at Darden depends upon active oral participation in the classroom. The University of Virginia requires demonstrated English proficiency. The recommended way to demonstrate English proficiency is to submit a TOEFL score.
