Scholarships

Federal Financial Aid for Graduate Students

U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for loans available through the Federal Family Education Loan Program and work-study through the Federal Work-Study Program. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and an Enrollment Status Sheet must be submitted to apply for federal aid.

Columbia Comprehensive Educational Financing Plan

Columbia University, in collaboration with a number of financial providers, has developed the Columbia Comprehensive Educational Financing Plan. The plan is a combination of federal, institutional, and private sources of funds that will meet the diverse needs of our student population, providing options to part-time, full-time, and international students.

If you apply for Federal or Private Loan(s), in addition to applying directly with the providers you must also complete a supplementary application and submit it to the Office of Financial Aid and Educational Financing.

Course Details

Course Structure

All students must take at least 18 points of graduate work in the IEOR Department (denoted by courses with the IEOR designation) and at least 30 points of graduate studies at Columbia.

International Exchange & Double Degrees

The joint M.S. and M.B.A. degrees program offered by the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Graduate School of Business train students interested in combining business and engineering careers. This option is available for students in the Industrial Engineering, and Operations Research programs. These joint degrees can be obtained after five terms of full time study. M.S.I.E./M.B.A. candidates are expected to complete a program of study that includes 30 points in SEAS and 45 points in the School of Business.

Internships

Brandeis IBS offers and encourages students to accept dynamic internship opportunities to enhance their skills and hands-on experience. Academic credit can be earned for internships as long as the work is related to the student’s degree, and as long as the student signs up for credit prior to the start of the internship. No tuition is charged for summer internships for full-time students

Research is conducted in the area of logistics, routing, scheduling, production and supply chain management, inventory control, revenue management, and quality control.

Text / Exam Scores

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE General Test only) is required of all applicants. Students whose bachelor’s degree was not earned in a country where English is the dominant spoken language:
1. Are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
2. Are required to take Columbia’s American Language Program (ALP) English Placement Test (EPT) at orientation upon arrival.

Work Experience

There is no minimum requirement of work experience.
Average Work Experience: 4 years

Recommendations

Three letters of recommendation (must be submitted online) are required.
