Advanced Opportunity Fellowships are designed to support the recruitment and retention of highly-qualified underrepresented students in UW-Madison graduate programs.
University Fellowships are competitive awards made to students in the Arts/Humanities and Social Sciences. Students are nominated for these fellowships by their programs.
Other Fellowships may be available at the program/departmental level. Check with your intended program’s Graduate Coordinator for more information about Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowships (WDGF) and other departmental fellowships.
Requirements
Research & Technical Papers
Some of our key programs are described below :
Fission reactor safety
If we are to have a viable commercial nuclear energy fleet, we must be able to understand the behavior of a reactor under all operating conditions.
Nuclear materials
The neutrons and charged particles inevitably present in nuclear facilities can do significant damage to structural materials.
Computational nuclear engineering
As simulation takes a larger role in the development of nuclear technology, there is a need to improve the fidelity and complexity of the simulations.
Corrosion studies
As we look to the future, reactors will tend to operate at higher temperatures in order to increase the efficiency of the energy conversion processes or to produce process heat for industrial applications such as hydrogen production.
Text / Exam Scores
The required minimum scores are:
- GRE : Average 560
- TOEFL : 80 for internet (iBT) and 550 for paper test.
- MELAB: 77
