Scholarships

ASME Graduate Teaching Fellowship Program :

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Council on Education administers the Graduate Teaching Fellowship Program, which was established in 1991 to encourage outstanding graduate students, especially women and minorities, to pursue the doctorate in mechanical engineering and to encourage engineering education as a profession. Awards are made for a maximum of two years, with an initial annual stipend of five thousand dollars.

ARCS Foundation Scholarships

The ARCS Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to helping meet our country’s needs for scientists and engineers by providing scholarships to academically outstanding students to help them complete their higher education.

Course Details

Course Structure

The doctoral degree requires 42 semester hours of course work (on a letter-grade basis) beyond the bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. A total of 36 semester hours must be at the 6000 level or above. Up to six semester hours may be at the 4000 level.

Automation and Mechatronics Research Group :

Research in mechatronics focuses on the fusion of mechanical and electrical disciplines in modern engineering processes, aimed at achieving a cost-effective, optimal balance between mechanical structure and their overall control.

Fluid Mechanics Research Group :

The Fluid Mechanics Research Group performs research in a wide variety of areas, employing theoretical, experimental and numerical tools.

Mechanics of Materials Research Group :

The faculty in the Mechanics of Materials Research Group conduct research and offer coursework involving topics at the interface of materials science and mechanics of materials. A major theme is the incorporation of materials structure-property relations in approaches suitable for engineering analysis.

Application Deadlines

February 1 for summer and fall semesters for program and full financial aid consideration, but March 1st for summer, June 1st for fall, and November 1st for spring.

Course Start Date

Division of Professional Practice : More than 3,000 Georgia Tech students currently participate in the four separate DoPP Program, all of which are voluntary. DoPP co-op students and interns are employed by more than 1,000 businesses and organizations, worldwide – ranging from small privately owned enterprises to major multi-national corporations and governmental agencies. Masters and Doctorial Candidates participate in the Grad Co-op Program, and juniors, seniors and graduate students are all eligible for the Work Abroad Program.
