The School of Engineering and Applied Science, which grants the Bachelor of Science in Engineering, offers unusual curricular versatility and breadth. The goal of the school is to educate leaders who can solve world problems. In the spring of the freshman year, students select a concentration in one of six departments. During their junior and senior years, B.S.E. students take advanced courses in their field of concentration and carry out independent research projects.
Electrical engineers and computer engineers design and develop anything and everything that uses electricity: from the power systems that bring electricity to our homes and communication systems that allow us to keep in touch with family and friends, to the electronic devices, electrical appliances, computers, sensors, and medical equipment that shape our everyday lives.
The departmental Ph.D. program complies with the regulations of the Graduate School. This is a full-time program only.This program is aimed at Ph.D. research and training students for careers in research and teaching. All non-native English speakers who have not received a university-level degree from a U.S. college or university must pass the University’s mandatory English Language Program by the end of their first year of study. Incoming students will be tested upon arrival, and may be required to participate in further English study. Students who do not pass by the end of their first year will not be readmitted.
