Scholarships
The University of Washington-Seattle has many scholarship opportunities available to the students. It provided about $19 million in scholarships to about 2700 of our undergraduate students in the past year. Academic Scholarships are awarded to a limited number of undergraduate students who are legal residents of Washington state. Approximately 900 awards from privately donated funds are given each year to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and financial need.UW Undergraduate Academic Excellence Awards are awarded to about 50 incoming freshmen per year, with four-year tuition waiver awards of $3,000 per year. Students must be Washington residents and demonstrate financial need. Mary Gates Scholarships are prestigious awards given to one or two Washington residents per year. The award covers up to tuition and books for four years. Financial need is considered but is not a requirement.

Internships
A Co-op is a structured work experience which offers students academic credit. In order to maintain the highest quality program possible, employers and students must meet specific criteria to participate in the Engineering Co-op Program. Internships can qualify as a Co-op if the criteria below are met:
- Positions are three to nine months in length.
- The work is at least 50% engineering-related duties.
- The student employees are paid.
Requirements
Research & Technical Papers
The Mechanical Engineering faculty is organized into four interest groups according to research specialty :
Energy and Fluids, Mechanics of Materials and Manufacturing, Systems and Dynamics, and Design and Manufacturing. Its faculty members conduct research-both individually and in collaboration with other faculty in Mechanical Engineering and other departments-in these four interest groups across four different thrust areas: Energy and the Environment, Health Care, Information Technologies, and Manufacturing
Text / Exam Scores
GRE : Official GRE scores.
TOEFL : For international applicants who do not qualify for an English waiver, the Graduate School requires an official TOEFL score.

Employment Stats
University of Washington fraternities have an informal recruitment process which occurs primarily in the spring and summer. To begin recruitment, go to university’s website and sign up for the Recruitment List. After submitting your contact information, fraternity recruitment chairmen will contact you and invite you to events.
Career Events
Co-op is a great way to get hands-on experience in your field, get paid, and earn credits toward your degree. Unlike an internship, where you are working but not necessarily getting paid or earning credits, Co-op is a structured program with specific requirements for the student and employer.
