Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Programs
The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
has one of the largest degree-based scholarship programs at Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT). Multiple funding options are available for undergraduate students who are pursuing a MSE degree.
MSE Scholars Program
MSE Scholars awards are $1500/semester. This funding is only open to entering freshmen who have been accepted into Georgia Tech’s School of Materials Science and Engineering.
MSE General Scholarship Program
MSE General Scholarships range from $1000/semester for entering freshmen and sophomores, $1200/semester for juniors and $1500/semester for seniors.

Course Structure
The first two years in the program are devoted to establishing a sound foundation in mathematics, science and basic engineering.
The final two years deal with establishing the structure-processing-properties relationships for all the major classes of materials, i.e., metals, ceramics, and polymers. Several electives allow a student to develop a concentration in a particular area of materials, such as electronic materials or composites.

Georgia Tech’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program was created as part of Tech’s “Quality Enhancement Plan” (QEP), a component of SACS accreditation. The purpose is to support both the quality and quantity of undergraduate research participation on campus.The Materials Science and Engineering Undergraduate Program offers the Research Option that allows students to participate in undergraduate research in faculty laboratories.

Division of Professional Practice : More than 3,000 Georgia Tech students currently participate in the four separate DoPP Program, all of which are voluntary. DoPP co-op students and interns are employed by more than 1,000 businesses and organizations, worldwide – ranging from small privately owned enterprises to major multi-national corporations and governmental agencies. The Undergrad Co-op Program is designed to be started during a student’s freshman and sophomore year, while GTIP Program serves the employment needs of juniors and seniors.
