- The ARCS Fellowship was established in 1984 as an annual gift from the Metropolitan Washington, D.C., Chapter of the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation. The recipients are chosen from enrolled students nominated by the departments.
- L. William Ballard Jr. Fellowship is offered to a graduate student who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership qualities, and financial need.
- Carlos and Esther Farrar Fellowship provides fellowships to deserving students at the University of Virginia studying in disciplines and programs pertaining to studies of the universe, i.e., aerospace engineering, astrophysics, mathematics, etc. This fellowship is awarded on the basis of scholastic merit and financial need.
- John H. and Dorothy W. Sidebottom Fellowship is offered to graduate students majoring in aerospace engineering.

Course Structure
Course work in the BS CS program starts with several courses that introduce the basic principles of software creation, from learning programming languages to advanced development techniques. Once students have mastered the basics, the bulk of our program opens up, offering electives in several exciting fields, including networking, security, game design, web programming, e-commerce, parallel computing, and much more. Students have the opportunity to take several electives each semester, as our department offers more electives than the other departments in the Engineering school.
International Exchange & Double Degrees
Yes.Undergraduate students in all six schools may study abroad in programs either sponsored or approved by our International Studies Office. Offering both an extensive resource library and a full-time study-abroad advisor, the office works closely with students who wish to spend a summer, a semester, a year, or the January term overseas.The University offers programs all over the world along with the Semester at Sea.The University also encourages students to enroll in pre-approved programs offered by other colleges and universities.

When you create an account on the Common App Online, you must first indicate what high school you attend. Once this information has been saved, you can access a ‘School Forms’ section of the Common App where teachers and counselors can be identified. By adding a teacher or counselor to the list of school officials, an email is triggered to the teacher or counselor with information about how to log into the Online School Forms system or how to opt for the “offline” or paper process. You are then able to track the progress of your various teachers and counselors via a screen within the Common App Online.

Spring Career Fair
This is a series of mini-career fairs specifically for employers recruiting engineering students, and is the primary Career Fair attended by Engineering students in the spring semester. This annual event traditionally takes place during the spring semester in early to mid-February.
Fall Career Fair
Engineering Career Days is sponsored by the Center for Engineering Career Development. The fair attracts approximately 2,100 (75% of) engineering students from all academic levels. Generally 140-185 employers participate to recruit for full-time and internship positions.
