Course Structure
Students who major in BioE will obtain a solid background in the basic sciences (chemistry, physics and biology) and mathematics. They will take three engineering fundamentals courses including an introductory bioengineering course and computer programming. Starting in the sophomore year, BioE students will take core classes to gain essential knowledge to pursue a career in bioengineering and will then have the opportunity to pursue elective courses suited to their own interests.
International Exchange & Double Degrees
Stanford accepts a small number of undergraduate transfer students each year. Requirements for admission are described as part of the undergraduate application process and are listed on the Undergraduate Admission website. Stanford University has a designated adviser who coordinates support for transfer students.
Internships
- iNET Internship Network:Stanford has joined with seven leading universities to form the Internship Network (iNet) Consortium, leveraging our combined connections to offer you access to a wider range of internship opportunities..
- Career Fairs:A variety of career fairs sponsored by the CDC, are held throughout the academic year. These fairs can provide you with general career information, help you develop contacts and find an internship, summer or full-time job.
Requirements
Research & Technical Papers
Biomedical Computation
New computational approaches to gathering and analyzing data must be developed to take advantage of our wealth of biological information. Integrating this information into models of biological activity and interaction will increase our predictive capacities, and enable us to control, manipulate, and create biological systems.
Biomedical Devices
Researchers working in biomedical design invent new technologies for life sciences research and clinical applications. Bioengineers are helping to translate advances in the life sciences into devices that directly impact human welfare and the future of scientific research.
Biomedical Imaging
New developments in biomedical imaging provide a window into complex biological phenomena. Imaging enables researchers to track the movements of molecules, cells, fluids, gases, or sometimes even whole organisms. Imaging techniques such as x-ray crystallography and magnetic resonance imaging can also yield information about important biological structures from single proteins to the human brain.

First one has to create an count on the online application link.
When you create an account on the Common App Online, you must first indicate what high school you attend. Once this information has been saved, you can access a ‘School Forms’ section of the Common App where teachers and counselors can be identified. By adding a teacher or counselor to the list of school officials, an email is triggered to the teacher or counselor with information about how to log into the Online School Forms system or how to opt for the “offline” or paper process. You are then able to track the progress of your various teachers and counselors via a screen within the Common App Online.Click here to apply
